Lancaster Avenue and Hamilton Street, Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, Hawthorne Hall
|
|
The crossroads of Lancaster Avenue and Hamilton Street
had its day in the sun. Hawthorne Hall, whose foundations sit firm
on solid ground, stands plumb and true. Hawthorne Hall, built by those
long since departed, is a gift handed down to us from the past. To
let buildings such as these to vanish, would be an insult to our
ancestors, and to future generations, and an insult to today's societies
moral fiber. |

Relief in the center of Hawthorne Hall |

|
Across Lancaster Avenue from Hawthorne Hall, on the south side, this mural done by HR 93, whose main figure holds the snake, stares back across to the figure holding the torch. |

Left side relief on Hawthorne Hall |

|
Again on the south side of Lancaster Avenue, across from Hawthorne Hall, this mural is direct and to the point. No hidden meanings to reflect upon, "Don't take me to a party without a hat!", uses only colors to gain attention. The relief's on Hawthorne Hall portrays innocents, "HR 93" has innocents under attack from the snake, and "Take me to a party", mourns the loss of innocents with a rainbow of colors. |
