THE COMMONWEALTH of Pennsylvania

With the foundations of our cities crumbling beneath the feet of a society tired and worn, the builders of the future are uprooting the forest in a mad rush to present  another patch of blacktop shopping center .  Where once the land was at peace, providing society with the natural miracle of creation, the short sighted builders of the future see only quick money to be squandered upon their own selfish desires.

Revive Philadelphia, save Penn's  Woods

"Over the mountains
Of the Moon,
Down the Valley of the shadow,
Ride, boldly ride,"
The Shade replied-
"If you seek for Eldorado!"

Edgar Allen Poe (1809 - 1849)

Eldorado was a legendary "city of gold"
that for centuries was sought in vane by Spanish
explorers and solders of fortune.  It has often
been used by poets to represent an unattainable goal.

By forsaking the inner cities to decay,
fleeing to the country side for the promise of a better life,
society is only expanding the same decay they abhor.

Society, looking over its shoulder at the dying cities ,
forgets that not very long ago, the forest green and waters pure
welcomed their forefathers with the same promise for a new life.
